Resumo

Una entidad poco frecuente es la manifestación neoplásica de las células de Schwann, que comúnmente se reporta en la región vestibular y en otras partes de la cabeza. No obstante, la manifestación de esta neoplasia benigna en miembros inferiores es muy rara. Por ello se reporta el caso clínico de una joven de 23 años de edad, quien, por molestias en la parte posterior de la pierna derecha con una sensación de masa, consultó el servicio de radiología. Luego de hacérsele una ecografía sobre la masa, se optó por una biopsia de la lesión, que evidenció, según criterio histopatológico, la presencia de un schwannoma. Este es el primer caso reportado en Latinoamérica sobre la atipia de esta entidad.
