Abstract
Actualmente la autoridad del profesor ya no reposa exclusivamente en la institución escolar; también debe ser construida por el maestro y reconocida por sus estudiantes. En esta línea, el presente artículo de investigación aborda un estudio que tiene el objetivo de caracterizar a los profesores con mayor autoridad desde las perspectivas de los estudiantes de enseñanza secundaria de distintos grupos socioeconómicos. Se recoge información mediante un cuestionario aplicado a 936 jóvenes de la ciudad de Santiago de Chile. Los resultados indican que los profesores reconocidos por su autoridad son aquellos que enseñan un saber altamente valorado, son respetuosos y proactivos.
