Abstract

This study explored the skills and practices of professors and students related to writing education in higher education, using the data produced along with existing theory and research on the topic in order to create an Academic Literacy Program at the Faculty of Education of a Bogota (Colombia) university. The paper stresses the need to educate in writing at the university and to understand that professors have the responsibility to create opportune scenarios for the students to develop writing as a communication skill and a cognitive tool in any discipline.
