Abstract

This paper introduces the author's thoughts regarding the question whether the role of universities goes beyond the instruction of certain knowledge, and if it includes the production of new thoughts. If this is the case, reading and writing projects are related to creative processes, training, and research.
While instruction criteria are about the necessary requirements for teaching a discipline's concepts, training criteria involve existential, ethical and political responsibility. Training topics, fomenting thinking, should be explicit elements of reading and writing projects.
