##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.details##
This analytical article presents part of a conceptual cartography of self-regulated learning(SRL): that which corresponds to the conceptualization, categorization and classification of the construct in question. The analysis, based on sources mainly found in Scopus, leads to the proposal for a definition of SRL which integrates relevant aspects found in the definitions under review, finds that SRL simultaneously belong to two categories which are immediately higher and detects four typologies of SRL processes. It concludes that the study of SRL has evolved towards the treatment of the construct with a complex approach which is growing and has a broad empirical support.
