Resumen

Las quemaduras causadas por electricidad, a diferencia de otro tipo de quemaduras, tienen un mayor grado de complejidad, ya que pueden resultar en una gran morbilidad al afectar no solo la piel, sino órganos vitales como el corazón, el cerebro y los músculos de la respiración; así como llevar a la instauración de una falla renal aguda secundaria a rabdomiólisis, un síndrome compartimental y heridas de difícil manejo. Esto se traduce en un gran reto médico y quirúrgico tanto para la identificación temprana como para el manejo de estas complicaciones. En este artículo se hace una revisión sobre este tema.
