Abstract
Angiectasias are the most common vascular malformations in the gastrointestinal tract in the general population. So far, the pathogenesis of this type of vascular malformations has not fully clarified. Its incidence has come increasing due to the greater availability of diagnostic methods in gastroenterology, mainly such as small bowel capsule endoscopy and deep enteroscopy for the study of the small intestine.
Endoscopic therapy is the most effective initial treatment strategy, however there are other therapeutic alternatives such as pharmacological therapy, angiography plus selective embolization or surgical resection.
