Abstract
This text explores the connections between literature, education and school, taking into account three literary works: Mister Pip, by Lloyd Jones, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai Sijie, and The Reader, by Bernhard Schlink. It looks into the role of literature in difficult contexts, the subjects’ power of transformation, and their connections to processes such as ethical, aesthetical and cognitive development.
